Why is Washington politics so complicated? Republicans claim tax cuts boost employment. History shows that public sector unemployment will go down when Bush era tax cuts expire in 2012.

Who's right?

Lets look at facts.

1. 1920s - Republicans cut taxest to 25%
2. 1930s - Great Depression unemployment 50% 
3. 1940s - Democrats increase taxes for the wealthy to 80%
4. 1941 -- Baby boom unemployment falls below 8%

Depression era tax cuts killed jobs. Tax hikes for the wealthy stimulated the economy. Examples one and two. 

Gerald Ford first claimed that tax cuts stimulate the economy.

3. Unemployment rises to 8.7 percent - highest since 1941

What if you have a slightly different opinion about how the universe came to be?

Conservatives believe you're the devil if you disagree - so nobody else's opinion maters.

The invention of writing 5,000 years ago may be more important than the invention of the wheel.

Facts show writing was invented at about the same time as the first stories were recorded in the bible.

David H. Koch claims global warming is good because "Earth will be able to support enormously more people because a far greater land area will be available to produce food" .

I don't think flood insurance is going to protect anyone from that magnitude of stupidity.

Tax cuts didn't cause a problem for the federal government until the social security trust fund was exhausted in 2005.

Republican tax cuts spent our national retirement savings AND killed our jobs.

How about that tax hike for the wealthy?

The only way the fiscal cliff will harm us is if Republicans fire millions of public sector workers in the military, in education, and in public safety.
